450g Tomato sauce, ready a jar to eat tomato sauce does the job

1 onion,chopped

450g minced beef

1 clove garlic

a splash of red wine

pepper

salt

paprika

chilli powder

bay leave, optional

2 tbsp tomato puree

Lasagne sheets

Cheese, any will do, but I enjoy a mix of freshly grated parmesan and mature cheddar

Béchamel sauce

4 tbsp flour

2 tbsp butter

approximately 200ml milk

·      Fry onions in a saucepan until clear

·      Add mince and fry until brown

·      Add wine and garlic and season with spices to taste

·      Pour tomato sauce over mince and simmer for about 20 mins

·      Cut lasagne sheets into shape

·      Spread a thin layer of sauce at the bottom of oven dish

·      Cover with lasagne sheets, on top of that another layer of mince

·      Sprinkle some cheese over mince and pour some Béchamel sauce over it

·      Continue adding layers of pasta and mince

·      On the last layer of mince pour the remaining white sauce and grate as much cheese as you like.

·      Bake at 180°C for 45 mins or until cheese is golden and sheets are soft

Béchamel sauce

·      Melt butter in a sauce pan

·      Add flour and cook until frothy

·      Gradually add milk, stirring constantly

·      Simmer until sauce thickens

Mimi’s Tip!: If you don’t want to cook the white sauce yourself, a jar of white sauce will work just as well
